The Print Nook | Meet the Owner and Designer, DaniWelcome to The Print Nook, friend!

I'm Dani, the owner and designer, and I'm so stoked to have you here.

I know you don't want to read an essay-length oration about how and why I got into business, so I'll give you the short version and some fast facts about me instead!

If you follow me on Instagram (@theprintnook), you'll also learn more about the business and get a feel for who I am by watching my stories! Although a heads up, if you're easily offended by profanity then my stories aren't the place for you 😉

The Print Nook officially started in May 2020, under the name Homeboy/Homegirl. The original name just never quite fit right, so I made the choice to rebrand to The Print Nook in May 2021. All work is done from my studio at home in Christchurch. This business has really always existed in the back of my mind, because this isn't my first rodeo with prints at all! I've been self-employed and creating prints since 2013, both for my own brand and for domestic and international stores. Life, kids and a good dose of imposter syndrome has always stopped me from creating my dream business and elevating it to what I wanted it to be - but now I'm squashing that shit and making it happen!

I want The Print Nook to be a buzzing hub of amazing artwork, and the first place you think of when you want to buy prints or digital printables for any space. I really hope to be able to bring some other creators on board as well, so there's a wonderful range of different styles all in one place. Who knows if or when that'll happen, but I'm putting it out into the universe now just in case! Now for the fast facts!

• My husband and I have been together for 10 years, but only married for 1.
• We have 2 loud kids together who are 8 and 5, and 2 even louder Burmese cats.
• You can usually find me with my mouse or Apple pencil in one hand and a V in the other, awkwardly kneeling at my desktop, laptop or iPad.
• I love designing, painting, sewing, the outdoors, video gaming, craft beer and time spent with friends.
• Anything creative or social is my jam.
• I've always got a million ideas and just as many projects on the go, thanks ADHD!
• I've been running my own business for 8 years, although that's been a few businesses in different niches, before I eventually came back to my sweet spot of designing prints.
• I'm an Enneagram 7 - the Enthusiast.
• I give a mean pep talk but I'm crap at following my own advice.
• My favourite food at home is my Nan Nan's homemade spaghetti. She's past the point of making it now, but my husband's version comes pretty close!
• My favourite food to have out is a saucy duck bao bun.
• I love bright colours, and I'm obsessed with painting loud, fun feature walls - as my house shows pretty clearly from the aqua herringbone in my lounge to the rainbow stripes in my bathroom.
